I was born in Yoshkar-Ola, city in Russia. I have been living in America since 2004. I love the nature and one day after seeing orchid in Santa Rosa, California, for the first time, I have decided to try to paint it with oils. I felt like there was something very special about painting and the feeling of being in a different world while holding the brush. I was discovering small tricks about how to handle oil and some technics by myself for a little time but then I wanted to learn more and was taking art class in Santa Rosa CollegeI have continued taking another drawing and painting classes in Lake Tahoe Community College. Deep blue turquoise crystal clear waters of the lake and perfect oval smooth shaped boulders were very inspiring. I was overwhelmed with the breathtaking Lake Tahoe seasons and I understood then that there is a deep inside me is a pallet full of paints that wants to transform the beauty of the nature on canvas.
In a couple of years later I have moved to another beautiful but tropical place, Hawaii. I have been living on Maui, Big Island and Oahu.
I can say now that I have met one artist in Oahu who spoke similar art language to mine and I have started taking classes with him. His name is George Eguchi. He is a wonderful person and he introduced me to pallet knife painting.
I have realized that it's what I feel most comfortable to paint with and that is what I use now all the time. I love the texture, the freshness and energy of motion of the blade. I continue to explore a journey of painting and see where it brings me next!
